On the road again...

I'm heading out this morning to Raleigh, NC for a soccer tournament. I will be driving 10 hours with Jordan & one of her teammates. Michael will fly up in the morning (Ben is staying with my mom). I really don't mind the drive so much as I'm SOOOOOO dreading the cold when we get there. I am such a Florida girl!

I think I could find a vacation in a cold place enjoyable enough if I knew we'd be going from heated building to heated car to heated building, (kinda like we do here with air conditioning in the summer... but we have the added dip in the pool) but because this is a soccer tourney, we'll be out for two hours at a stretch. Of course, I shouldn't complain... I'll be bundled with a heavy jacket (don't own a heavy coat, I'm a Florida girl, remember?), a blanket, a hat, a scarf, gloves & probably a hot chocolate, Jordan will be on the field in shorts! Then again, I wouldn't be there AT ALL if it weren't for her.

Friday's game is at nice, reasonable time...11am. I can sleep in a little (yeah right!), have breakfast, pick up Michael at the airport & still have plenty of time to make it to the game. Saturday's game, on the other hand, is at 8:15! In the morning! In the COLD! I was horrified when I saw that. HORRIFIED! Until I saw Sunday's schedule... they. have. a. game. at. 7freakin45inthemorning! UGH! Keep in mind that I'm generally a morning person, and generally soccer tournaments are one of my absolute favorite things, but when you add in the cold weather (and oh yeah! I now have the cold Jordan brought home from her last soccer adventure), it fills me with such a dread, I can't even comprehend it. I'm a wimp, I know. I need to suck it up and I will, but this is my own little place where I can whine & complain a little, so I did. Now I've had my moment, time to get on with it...

I was going to insert a picture here of Megan's team, back in the day, at a really cold soccer tournament, all bundled up in a group before a game with frost on the ground, but my external hard drive with my pictures on it doesn't seem to be cooperating. You'll have to use your imagination.

And the winner is...

The "Good Guys" won 2-1! :) I ain't sayin' it was pretty, but a win is a win, right?

Let's Go Bulls!

Big rivalry high school game tonight. The Bulls are taking on the Newsome Wolves! Most of the time, these girls are club teammates & even friends, but the rivalry on Game Day is FIERCE!!! No matter what the outcome, it should be a great game. Be there or be square...6pm, Newsome High School.

LET'S GO BULLS!!!

The Gig is up.

Conversation in our household this evening...

Michael: (Hanging out with Ben, noticing his shirt) This is a good quality shirt. Beth, where did you get it? JCPenney's?
Beth: No, Dillards.
Ben: (With total & complete sarcasm that only an 11 year old can muster) You mean, where did "Barnaby" get this shirt? (You know, that Christmas Elf?)

Darnit!!! So, apparently the kid has been onto us for about 2 years now. I was beginning to worry about him, being 11 & all...but he knew he had a good thing going and has had US jumping through hoops to keep the secret.

For the last few years, I've been looking forward to this day (after all, he is 11, I've been doing this for 18 years & I've never been very good at it... I always felt like I was on the verge of giving it away), but I'm sad. Megan graduated this year & now THIS! Although I'll be a "Mom" for the rest of my life, my "Mommy" years are rapidly coming to an end. How can that be?! (For my 3 readers that don't know me IRL, please note now that I was a VERY young mom, REALLY! I was only 19 when Megan was born, Michael was exactly 20 & 1 week... I couldn't decide which was worse, you thinking we were OLD or knowing we were teen-age statistics, either way it doesn't matter, some of you will probably think we're old anyway, although WE ARE NOT!!!) Anyway, I digress... what I really want to say is that this seems like it was only yesterday...

Wasn't she adorable?! Megan was almost 2 here, about 2 weeks from becoming a big sister and just becoming aware of the big, red, chimney guy who brings presents... SIIIIIIGH!
Although I'm sure that the big, red guy will continue to come down our chimney for many more years to come...

Just so ya know...

Also, Christmas card people, the blogger header is not the Christmas card either. I wouldn't spoil it for you :)

Photo op

For those of you on my Christmas card list, here is a sample of photos that WILL NOT be on our Christmas cards this year...

I guess you need more than just an awesome camera and some gorgeous kids, huh? :)
