Yo Ho Ho & a Pina Colada

To celebrate our 20th Anniversary, Michael & I decided we needed to get the heck outta town...
We headed out to the open seas...

Our ship was headed to the Bahamas, but we had something else in mind. Catching a tender to the private island or shopping in Nassau seemed like way too much work. We found a perfect spot to spend the days...

We had a great time & even put on real clothes once in awhile.

The highlight of both this cruise & the cruise we went on last summer was the Quest game show onboard. The Quest is an "adult scavenger hunt" Our team consisted of our favorite table mates, Buddy & Jenny (here next to Michael) & another family that they had met earlier in the cruise...
Basically, the cruise director asks for an item & someone from your team has to run up to him holding that particular object with your team number. It gets pretty crazy... Jenny was quite enthusiastic.

See that girl behind Jenny in this picture below? Doing the splits? Jenny had just gotten up from doing them. She had no idea she had that talent.

Last year one of my bras got ruined during the game (don't ask!) This year Michael donated his shoelaces to the cause, oh! and his shirt...

Whoops! He donated something else too! What happened to his britches?

I guess it could have been worse. At least he didn't end up like this...

Oh my!!! That's Buddy there in the pink bra. He ended up being the star of the "Cruise in Review" DVD & became quite a celebrity. Here he is being recognized at dinner... "Are you the guy in the bra?" I guess it was worth it though, because our team WON! Woohoo! I forgot to take a picture of all of us with our gold medals.
We really had a wonderful, relaxing time. Here we are the last morning, excited to be getting back...to this...p.s. We're already researching out next trip. :)

Miracles...

When I said we were babies on our wedding day, I wasn't exaggerating. We were 19. We have a daughter who is almost 19 1/2. We've been married 20 years. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why we planned our entire wedding in 8 days. Yes. 8 DAYS! Of course, MC was my maid-of-honor. Monte, Michael's best friend growing up, was his best man.

It was a small wedding. (duh?!) Mostly family. Aside from MC, I had only invited 2 other friends, J & KW . I've been friends with these girls since junior high. To this day, MC, J & KW are my best friends. I love them so much.

On my wedding day, MC stood up for me. J & KW performed a miracle. You see, when Mom & I ordered our wedding cake, we told the woman at the bakery grocery store that we were expecting 34 people at the wedding. (See? I don't exaggerate...we WERE babies & it WAS a small wedding). Somehow the baker random employee misunderstood...

...and we ended up with a cake for 3-4 people.

that didn't really uphold the Precious Moments cake topper my grandmother bought for us... see how it collapsed? After we ceremoniously "cut the cake", J & KW got to work...

and SOMEHOW managed to serve EVERYONE a piece of cake (we even had the top layer to freeze until our first anniversary my in-law's moved to a new house 15 years later).

Miraculous, huh?! Almost as miraculous as two 19 year-old kids making a marriage work for 20 years...

20 years ago today...

This boy...
and this girl...
Got married!
We were just babies. Seriously.
But I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Happy Anniversary, Honey! I love you!

4th Recap

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July. We had a impromptu cookout at my parents' house. We've really enjoyed their pool this summer.

After we got home, Megan served up some ice cream for her & Ben to eat while they watched the fireworks outside our window (I tried to get some good fireworks shots, but failed miserably). We can see the local fireworks show really well from here & our neighbors around the "lake" always put on quite a show.

Where was our middle child during this 4th of July Spectacular?!

Here, in front of the TV...

Watching this...
Duh?! At least it was a US Nat'l Team match... and they won 4-0.

GO U.S.A.!!!

17 years ago today...

...I snapped these shots of my little girls. I remember the date because it marked the day Jordan turned 6 months old. Hard to believe that baby is 6 months away from being an "adult". Happy 17 1/2 J! Enjoy your childhood while it lasts, kid. :)
