Love Letters
Dear Little Man,
You know I love you dearly. You are so smart and funny and you bring joy to my life every day. But, if you EVER EVER let your room look like this again, you will be banished to the garage.

Love,
Mom
My Darling Mother,
Thank you so so so much for all the hard work you have put into making my bedroom not only a habitable domicile, but a work of art. I will strive to keep it this way for the next 7 years, until I go off to Harvard. I am forever grateful.

The Big Reveal...
Sike!
No photos of a finished Ben's room YET! But I'm confident that it will be done TODAY! Yes, TODAY! To be honest, I didn't work on it at all yesterday. But TODAY it will be a thing of beauty! Not this morning, mind you, but before I go to bed today, I will finish. Then I will sleep well in my cozy flannel sheets. Oh how I love my flannel sheets.

I can see the floor!
Okay, I'm ALMOST done with the boy's room. The big stuff is done, but now I'm left with the dribs & drabs that I don't quite know what to do with. It's those dribs & drabs that do me in EVERY time... I always run out of steam at the end (and who could blame me after 12 HOURS working on it).
When I was a kid & my room was in desperate need of a good cleaning (which, honestly was most of the time), but when it would become a health hazard & my mom could stand it no more, I would come home from school to find everything that had been on my floor on top of my bed. I would have to clean it off or sleep on the floor. This worked for me. I think otherwise, I never knew where to start. Unfortunately, Ben has a loft bed & his room is too small for me to pile everything in the middle, so in order to organize, I had to take all of his toys into the family room to sort through & sorted through the books in his room. So the dribs & drabs I have to deal with are in the family room. I think I can finish if I work diligently for an hour or so. I just don't know if I have an hour to spare today... or tomorrow. And the kids are off for "Fair Day" on Friday, not that we ever go to the fair.
Overall though, I think I've finally gotten rid of enough stuff that he'll be able to keep this up. He was really willing to get rid of quite a bit, but was really adamant about stuff that was important to him. I think he made some really good decisions and I'm really proud.
Now if only Jordan & I could learn to be so reasonable, I think my clutter problem may be solved. :)

Taking a break.
Whew! Been working on "the dungeon" since 10 this morning. I just stopped to pick up the boy from school. When he's done with his homework, he's going to help me. Poor kid! It's not his fault that his mom hasn't gotten rid of any toys since he was in 2nd grade. I'm just not ready for this transition from little kid's room to middle schooler room. He doesn't really play with many toys anymore, but it breaks my heart to get rid of some of them. He always loved his "characters"aka little plastic guys & cartoon characters, so I will save some of those but the fact is many of them have to go. He's a pretty sentimental kid, so it'll be interesting to see what he's willing to part with. But I'm betting he lets go a little easier than I will.
Honestly though, as long as he's got his books, he's a happy kid.. Although we need to go through those too. *sigh*

I'm going in!
If you don't hear from me in the next couple of days, please send a reconnaissance party into my son's room to look for me. I'm going to spend the day in there cleaning & organizing (read: throwing crap away!). I thought about posting a "before" picture for motivation, but I'm too embarrassed.
Wish me luck!

Happy February 2!
You all know that today is Groundhog's Day. Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, so that is supposed to mean 6 more weeks of winter... but, if PP were here in my part of the "Sunshine State", he would NOT have seen his shadow, as it is a gloomy, rainy day here. So I say that, for us, Spring is just around the corner. :) Not that I expect my friends up north to feel sympathy for our "winter weather" lately, but I'm greatly feeling the need to put on some shorts & soak in some sun.
Not only is today Groundhog's Day, but it's also my in-laws' wedding anniversary! Happy Anniversary Jim & Chris, a girl truly couldn't ask for a better family to marry into! Here is the happy couple on their lot on the golf course before their new house was built. I think they are standing where their back porch is now. Not a bad view for Florida is it?
As if the day couldn't get ANY more special, it is also the birthday of our cat, George. George was born to a stray cat that some friends of ours took in, I want to say 6 years ago. George is our part-time cat. He cheats on us with our neighbors down the street. He pops in to eat every morning, but then leaves immediately & spends the majority of time in their garage... Here he is back when he loved us. Actually, he still loves us, he just hates our younger cat, Harry & he loves the neighbors' little girl.

So if you were looking for things to celebrate on this gloomy Monday afternoon... I'm happy I could help!
