Prom Queen

I've been tagged by Amy...

Here are the rules...

1. Upload your prom picture. If you don't have one, email your mom and have her send it to you.

2. Don't forget to include the year it was taken. Again, don't be shy. The older the better.

3. Grab the "Prom Queen" button on my sidebar and add to your post.

4. Copy and Paste the rules to your blog

5. Tag 5 others!

The top one is actually Homecoming 1987... Lemme tell you, Michael & I thought we looked AMAZING that night. Doncha love the "stripes" in his hair. My dress had a white ruffle with black polka-dots at the bottom of the "bubble" skirt.

The bottom one is Prom 1988. Good times. I tag...

'Til Next Season...

Jordan's team was eliminated from Florida State Cup in the Round of 8 last weekend (4/19). It was a heartbreaking loss to a team they've tied twice this season (at least, Michael & Jordan could tell you for sure). The girls played so well & the score really wasn't indicative of the game, but unfortunately it's how many balls you put in the net that counts. That loss ends their regular season. I'll miss those girls during the off season.

Oh wait!!! They're playing in a tournament Memorial Day weekend & tryouts for next season are the weekend after that. Let's just say that there is no "off season" at this level.

Isn't it amazing at how these girls are willing to sacrifice their bodies for the sake of the game? As a non-athlete, I'm always in awe.

It was a great season, girls. Looking forward to next year!!!

Let's Play Catch (Up)...

I hate it when I fall behind on my blogging duties. Not that most of you probably notice, but my mom does (Hi Mom!)...

So what's new in the Land of the Beth's Blog Bunch? Anything exciting happen this week? Anything blog-worthy? Oh yes indeed-y! Michael got a job HERE! In town. Starting NEXT Monday. :) Actually, I think he will be setting up his temporary office at my parents' house (Hi Mom & Dad!) for a few months until the company he'll be working for has an actual office (his new boss is working out of his house across town til they get their new digs).

My parents live about 15 minutes from us and they're really close to the Y (Michael's home away from home). Thankfully they have a spacious house & they didn't seem to bat an eye when we asked them if this would be a possibility. You see, Michael worked from home a few years ago. He had a nice home office set up. In our family room. Right off of the kitchen. Not good. I loved having him home all the time (especially since he had previously been working down in W. Palm Beach), but I think he will benefit from going "to the office" every morning, especially since summer is coming upon us very quickly & having the 3 kids & me in his space all the time could be very distracting. Although I imagine we will be coming to see him at the office swim in my parents' pool quite often while he's there.

I have more to catch you up on, but in an effort to start posting more, I'll save some for later...

Why I'm in a good mood today...

This guy is coming home tonight! That makes 2 weekends in a row! :) It's gonna be a long weekend too, he's not heading back to Baltimore until next Tuesday.
It's a soccer weekend! Tomorrow afternoon we head to the east coast for the Sweet 16 Round of State Cup. It's supposed to be a beautiful weekend with highs in the high 70s & low 80s. Perfection! All the high school aged girls teams play at the same facility this weekend, which means lots of soccer for us to watch. It's a sickness, I tell you, but it makes us happy.
Ben is spending the weekend with my parents. Soccer does not make him happy, but cuban sandwiches & salmon patties do. My mom usually provides those for the boy when he's visiting them. He may even get a trip to the library, some chess with my dad & if he's brave enough, he might even get to go for a dip in the COLD pool!

A week from Sunday, we're going to Gainesville to move Megan's stuff home for the summer. (She'll be following her stuff the following Tuesday). I can't believe her first year of college is coming to an end. Time sure does fly! Looking forward to having her bright, shiny face around these parts for a few months.

Happy Dance

I love these two. They are my two youngest children. Ben is there on the left. He's 11. Jordan is on the right. She's 17. They love each other. They love their older sister, Megan. They love Michael & I and the rest of our extended family. That is the extent of what they have in common.

Jordan is an athlete. She loves to be on the go. Sitting doesn't interest her. She watches TV standing up. She sits down at (most) meals, in the car and at school. That's about it. Her idea of hell is a rainy Saturday afternoon at home.

Ben loves to read & play on the computer. Sitting appeals to him. A rainy Saturday afternoon to him is heaven. It means NO SOCCER and that he can most likely curl up on the couch with a book or a laptop.

Try pleasing both of these people for a solid week during Spring Break. I double-dog dare you. Can't be done. Thus, as they both went back to school this morning I did the HAPPY DANCE! :)

Praying for Stellan

You make have seen the "Praying for Stellan" button on my sidebar. Stellan is a sweet little baby in a battle for his life. Please keep him in your prayers & click on the link to learn more about him.

Stellan's Name Gallery is part of the vigil the blogging community is holding for Stellan. It's a beautiful thing. When I was showing this to Jordan & Ben the other day, Ben insisted that we make a contribution. He wrote out Stellan's name & has been nagging asking me to go to the park to take the pictures... Here's our contribution, I don't know if it will make it to the gallery, as there are hundreds of submissions, but I wanted to share it with you.

In other news... Michael AND Megan are coming home tomorrow!!! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Can you see me dancing a jig?!

Excuse me, no time to blog. The kids are on Spring Break.

My first attempt at using Photoshop Premiere Elements. Our car ride home from the FSU soccer game. It was a fun, beautiful day. The 'Noles won 4-0. :)

The Day That Wasn't Field Day

Today was supposed to be my 13th(!!!) year volunteering at Field Day at Ben's school (before it was Ben's school it was Jordan's school & before that it was Megan's school, actually it was Megan's school first, then Megan AND Jordan's school, then just Jordan's school, then Ben's schoool, but I digress...) anyway, the sky didn't look so great this morning but when I called the school office this morning I was assured that Field Day would go on. After waiting for an hour & 1/2 in the music room, it was clear that Field Day would not go on. At least not until another day.

At first I was really bummed, but then I realized it's Friday, so you know what that means? Morning Movie!!! A bonus Morning Movie even! Since it was unexpected, I didn't do my usual research & I went to see a movie I didn't know anything about going in...

I liked it. Of course, I love love love going to my Morning Movie so much, it's very rare that I don't like one of the movies I see on those days. This one is a quirky comedy-drama with a fantastic cast. Alan Arkin is phenomenal, as always.

Tomorrow is our first Saturday without Michael. Jordan, Ben & I are heading over to the east coast to (are you ready for this?!) watch a soccer game. A big in-state rivalry FSU v. UF. This is slated to be a more successful trip than Jordan & my trip to Tallahassee to watch FSU play Auburn (soccer, duh?!) last weekend.

You see, even taking into account our stop in Gainesville to have dinner with Megan, it should NEVER take 7 hours to get to Tallahassee from Tampa (usually a 4 hour drive). The only thing worse than spending 7 hours in traffic is to arrive at your destination and upon checking the internet realize that the game you drove 7 hours to see HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL SUNDAY! We had to be back home for a mini high-school reunion in Clearwater on Sunday with some friends of mine, so we knew we would miss the game. Thankfully, the alumni game was still slated to go on at noon on Saturday, as scheduled, so we hit the hay disappointed but knowing we would at least see ONE game.

We leave our hotel Saturday morning in plenty of time to stop at our favorite Tally bagel shop on the way to FSU. Only to run into a freakin' parade blocking our route! Thankfully, Jordan has a great sense of direction (she didn't get that from me) & was able to get us to the university just after kick-off. Or so we thought. Due to the inclimate weather due to arrive later that day (the reason for the postponement of the Auburn game) , they apparently started the game early. We realized this when it ended 10 minutes after we sat down.

So we drove 11 hours (including the 4 hours to get home) to see 10 minutes of soccer. Oh! And I almost had a nervous breakdown when I got pulled over for speeding on the way home. Thankfully, I got off with a warning... the one thing that went right. (Sunday's mini reunion was fun...more on that later...)

I've checked the weather reports and I'm optimistic that tomorrow's trip will be better. Couldn't be worse. Right? Wait, don't answer that.
